Welcome, bienvenue

Welcome(Audio English)
00:00 / 00:53

You are welcome regardless of your income, gender, social background, spirituality, abilities, sexuality, ethnic or cultural heritage. If you are affected by discrimination of any kind, be it racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, ageism, or ableism,  or several of those simultaneously, please know that you can safely and openly talk about it. Such discrimination can take a heavy toll on one's mental health, and should never be brushed aside or minimised.

Bienvenue(Audio Français)
00:00 / 00:51

In a nutshell

Audio Version(English)
00:00 / 05:46

I can help with:

Anxiety, stress, depression

Low self-esteem, Self doubt

Relationship difficulties, family problems

Grief, bereavement, loss

Toxic situations and relationships, abuse, bullying

Gender and identity issues, discrimination issues

Childhood adverse experiences

Although I am a generalist, I am also well informed on: food - and other substances - issues, body image, anger issues, trauma, PTSD and  CPTSD.

How I work

I am a ‘humanistic’ counsellor: I work using a Person-Centred approach. I sometimes integrate elements from Existential therapy. I also integrate 'psycho-education': for example, it can be useful and empowering to understand what anxiety is, how it works, what it does. The person-centred approach can feel quite different from approaches such as CBT (which is aimed at working from a cognitive and behavioural perspective, and is goal oriented), or Psychodynamic approach (which focuses more on bringing ‘unconscious’ processes to the surface).

My way of working is ‘non directive’: you have the control over what you wish to bring up in a session. My way of listening is non-judgemental empathy: I will not interpret or assess what you share. Instead I will try to fully understand your experience as you feel it, and my questions will be aimed towards deepening that empathetic understanding.

Counselling

If you are struggling with a personal issue which is affecting your wellbeing, then a series of regular 1-to-1 counselling sessions can be useful. These sessions are generally an hour long, but you can book 90 minutes, if you feel that is a better fit for you. They are generally occurring weekly, although twice a week can be arranged, or once fortnightly, depending on your needs and budget. Therapy can be short-term (5 to 12 weeks), or longer-term, depending on your needs.

Emotional Support

If you feel that you don’t need therapy as such, but if you just want a safe place to ‘get things off your chest’ confidentially, to process things like a difficult day or week, the fall out of an argument, a worry that you do not want to burden anyone with, then booking a one-off support session when you need it can be beneficial.

You can choose a short session (30min), normal (60 min) or long (90 min). This can be arranged at short notice although I may not be able to find an available time on the same day.

Making counselling affordable

“In 2018, seeing a therapist usually costs between £60 and £90 per hour with specialists at up to £150/hour, however in 2021 seeing an online therapist is now usually between £45 and £65 per hour.” (Source: UK Therapy Guide)

Given the squeeze experienced by many of us through the rising cost of living and the impact of the pandemic, I choose to make my services as affordable as possible. I offer discounts and different frequency options to make my support financially more accessible even if you are on a tight budget.
